Activities in Jordan

The Order of Malta's Italian Association operates in Jordan through its organisation ‘Order of Malta Jordan’. It will implement a project called Access (AID 012970/01/8) in 2025 and 2026, thanks to funds from the AICS (Italian Development Cooperation Agency). Access aims to improve and extend the quality of basic social and health services for vulnerable groups in Jordan, with a twofold objective. On the one hand, to promote access to basic social and health services for children and youth with neuro-psychomotor disabilities and their families. On the other, to promote the rights, dialogue and social inclusion of vulnerable and disadvantaged people belonging to Christian communities in Jordan in six governorates of the country (Amman, Mafraq, Zarqa, Ajloun, Aqaba and Karak). The initiative favours the extension and enhancement of rehabilitation programmes, through the setting up of six first aid centres and the networking of an orientation and information service through the creation of a centre run by trained and specialised operators, favouring both the improvement of health conditions and the social inclusion and empowerment of the beneficiaries. Access aims to promote and stimulate reflection on issues related to the right to health, interreligious dialogue and peaceful coexistence in the Jordanian context through the involvement and participation in seminars, forums and meetings of community members, civil society, leaders of religious institutions and organisations.
The Access Project is led by Project South ETS and partnered by Order of Malta Jordan and the Royal Institute for Interreligious Studies.
